Description: The Psychic Treatment of Nervous Disorders, The Psychoneuroses and Their Moral Treatment, Dr. Paul Dubois, Professor of Neuropathology at the University of Berne, 6th Edition Revised. Published by Funk and Wagnalls Company in April,1909. The First French Edition was published in July, 1905. A Second German Edition appeared at the same time as the Third French Edition. The English translation first appeared in this, the Sixth American Edition. In the author's Introduction to the Sixth American Edition, he notes, "the ideas here set forth [in this edition and all previous editions] are in the air, and that in attempting to epitomize them in didactic form I have done nothing more than express concisely the thoughts of many of my confreres of different countries. This was my object, and the support they have given me in letters, their reports to medical journals and personal conversations I have had with them constitute a much-valued encouragement." In Dr. Dejerine's Preface (Paris, March, 1904), he notes, "there is to be found in this volume (presumably the First French Edition), along with the most interesting psychological considerations, a description of the methods used by the author in his practise [sic] of psychotherapy." The book is in very good condition. The cover and spine have good color, with only minor edge wear in a few corners. The gilding on the spine is very intact. The binding is strong and fully intact. Pages are tight. There is some fawn color on all the pages from age. There are a few pencil marks inside the front cover pages and lightly scattered throughout the book, mostly in the margins. The last page before the back cover board is missing a torn corner in the bottom left (about 1" X 2" of the sides of the triangle). The top page edges have some dark coloring.
