Description: A PSA graded NM 7 - 1906 WG2 Fan Craze A.L. card of Nick Altrock of the Chicago White Sox. Despite winning 62 games pitching for Chicago from 1904-1906 (including 23 wins and a 1.88 ERA in 1905), Altrock is probably best known for being one of the "Clown Princes of Baseball" doing comedy routines at professional baseball games. He also set a major league record in 1933 with the Washington Senators by becoming the oldest player to hit safely in a game at the age of 57. That record was broken the next season by Charley O'Leary of the St. Louis Browns, who singled and scored a run 15 days prior to his 59th birthday. The Fan Craze Company of Cincinnati issued sets of baseball playing card games in 1906 for both the American League and National League. The card fronts feature black & white photos with the player's name and team at the bottom and the "play" for the card game at the top. A.L. cards feature blue card backs, while N.L. cards feature red backs. This example has no creasing, bold printing, good centering, nice focus and clean borders. The corners are consistent with those found on most NM-MT/NM-MT+ examples, with the exception of some wear near the upper right corner. The back is sharp and clean with bold blue printing.
