Description: Stone lithograph – 1 of 4 - Gathering Fruit. - Image – 10 ½ x 7 1/4”. Signed lower right. Very good condition. The super mid-century frame has some nicks and scuffs. Jack Tinkle (1919-2004) was born in Center and settled in San Antonio. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and the San Antonio Art Institute. His first major exhibition was at the premier Texas art exhibition at the time, the Texas General of 1947. He followed with work there in 1948, 1949, 1955, 1959. He was named San Antonio artist of the year in 1951 and two more of these awards were to come in later years. He was to exhibit in more exhibitions and more prizes. The San Antonio Art League awarded him the Julian Onderdonk Purchase prize in 1967. He was a top tier Texas modernist.
