Description: EXCELLENT MINT CONDITION OFFICIAL WHITMAN COIN FOLDER PRESIDENTIAL DOLLARS COLLECTION Starting 2012 Philadelphia and Denver Mint Collection Number Two 2276 Composition: Outer layers of manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, and 4% nickel) bonded to an inner core of pure copper. Diameter: 26.5 mm. Weight: 8.1 grams. Edge: Smooth, with incused characters (see below). Sacagawea, the Shoshone Indian who bravely guided Lewis and Clark on their journey through the Northwest Territory, was the first-and until 2007, the only-historical figure to be honored on U.S. golden dollars. In December 2005, however, Congress approved the creation of new dollar coinage, known as Presidential dollars, and President George W. Bush signed the legislation into law shortly afterward. During each year from 2007 to 2016, four different dollar designs, each bearing the image of a different president, are being released. Living presidents, both current and former, are excluded from the program. Grover Cleveland, who to date is the only president to serve multiple nonconsecutive terms, will be represented with two coins. Sacagawea dollars are being produced concurrently with Presidential dollars, though in reduced numbers (a ratio of one to three). At the conclusion of the Presidential dollar program, the Sacagawea dollars will resume their position as the standard design for U.S. dollar coins. The Presidential dollars are part of the Golden Dollar Program and retain the same golden color as the Sacagawea dollars. The reverse design bears the Statue of Liberty, with the word LIBERTY temporarily removed. The motto In GOD WE TRUST appears in edge lettering-a first for a U.S. coin, as the motto has never before appeared on the edge. The year of issue is likewise incused on the edge, as in E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mintmark. Beginning in 2007, the United States Mint is honoring the past Presidents of the United States with a unique series of Presidential $1 Coins. The coins have a design of a former U.S. President on one side and the Statue Of Liberty on the other. These coins feature larger artwork with edge-incused inscriptions of the mint year or issuance, "E Pluribus Unum," "In God We Trust" and the mint mark. There will be four coins issued each year from 2007 through 2016. No coins are included. 2007 Whitman Publishing, LLC Made in China No. 2275 Good luck to all bidders on this Coin Folder!
