Description: Amazing All Original Poured Wax Baby emerging from paper mache egg. Dating to the 1880's, remarkably well preserved. Wax legs, arms with tiny fist, and hand painted head, surrounded by ecru net lace forming a bunting and bonnet. Paper mache or similar composition egg, cracked at the top as the baby breaks free, with one hairline crack extending around the back of the egg. Measuring approximately 3 1/2" long. Found stored in an antique chip wood oval box, possibly original. The box has a fracture along one side - see photos. It also appears that the baby is missing one tiny hand, hard to see because of the lace.
