Description: This auction is for a used and clean POULAN 2300 (CRAFTSMAN 2.3) trim type chainsaw. This superior running small saw is a fine example of the 2300 models made by Poulan for Sears and others. The engine compression is 145 psig (strong). Originally, this saw was a 2300CVA but the top handle was damaged. I replaced it with a standard 2300 handle, carburetor mount and hand guard. The cosmetic condition of this saw is better than average ... no missing parts. No damaged frame or cracked aluminum covers ... strong saw. The 38cc engine, with solid engine compression, gives this saw lots of power ... just a solid, all-around small trim type chainsaw for the money. It's the largest engine displacement trim saw you can purchase as most are typically 25cc ~ 33cc. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE STARTING PRICE !! Please take the time to read this description thoroughly as there is sufficient information to allow you to make a "valued" decision. Poulan made this saw for Craftsman as the 2.3 .... same as the 2300, sharing all parts. The difference in the saw is purely the color (Craftsman Grey as opposed to Poulan Green). The starting price for this chainsaw is excellent ... you cannot rent a saw for the weekend at the starting price. Definitely cannot buy a new saw for the price. Nice lightweight and versatile trim saw ... strong power for its displacement. JUST A SIDE NOTE: If you were considering going cordless with your trim tools, you may wish to reconsider as the cordless models (regardless of manufacturer) will not stand up to heavy use. This two-stroke model will readily handle any job you have. The Poulan 2300 is a simple and reliable machine. It puts a cordless chainsaw to shame. If you have anything significant to maintain or cut, forget the cordless as they are problematic when you work them hard. The engine is strong and it starts without issue ... but, of course, you must follow starting directions as all saws are NOT the same. The saw's performance was trouble-free during tuning. With its replacement Phelon electronic ignition along with its rebuilt Walbro WA-19A carburetor, its ready for use. It has a new fuel line, new fuel filter and new air filter. It also has a replacement fuel reservoir cap. Only make your carburetor adjustments (if necessary) when the saw is fully warm. Factory mixture adjustment for this saw is 1 turn open from the lightly seated position on both HIGH and LOW speed jets. The high speed mixture jet is set 1 turn open from the lightly seated position. The low speed adjustment set to 1 1/8 turns open. Adjustments to mixture strength and idle speed requires a simple small flat blade screwdriver ... only make adjustments with the engine warm and in 1/8 turns at a time. This good running chainsaw includes an excellent OREGON Guard Tip 16" sprocket nose guide bar and very good semi-chisel TRI-LINK chain. This is a very tough and durable cutting combination. The bar / chain specifications are 3/8" low profile pitch, 0.050" gauge and 56 drive links. It can also run a 12" or 14" guide bar and chain, if desired. Very versatile and easy to use. The drive sprocket looks very good with only very minor wear. ... the sprocket needle bearing has been fully re-lubricated. Even though the saw runs fine, please have realistic expectations, it is not new. No fuel or oil leaks ... of course, oil will always leak off the bar from use. The automatic bar / chain oiler works properly as it should with no problems ... it has a replacement metering assembly with new oil tubing. The starter recoil assembly has been fully inspected and has a new rope and grip. It is problem free with no slippage or other defects. The muffler is in good shape with all internal baffles and screen. I apologize ... but I cannot accept returns. It is simply too expensive to allow returns due to cosmetic issues when the saw runs great. It is NOT a "new" chainsaw ... and you are not paying a "new" price ... so please be realistic in your expectations. If there is a real problem caused by my actions, I will resolve the issue. Please understand you are NOT purchasing a new chainsaw as there are always scrapes, scuffs, hidden dirt, minor debris, etc. ... it will NOT be perfect. But I think you will definitely be satisfied with its performance. Yes, it is true, 99% of all starting and operating problems are due to failure to follow the correct directions. PLEASE REFER TO THE PICTURES AND FURTHER DESCRIPTION FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND DETAIL. My apology for the next paragraph but it is sadly necessary. Be serious and realistic about your purchase and expectations. Chainsaws are fantastic labor saving devices, but can be very dangerous if handled with carelessness. You really must be able to use a chainsaw, and understand it, before you purchase. Failure to follow starting and operating instructions … or inability to adjust the carburetor … or other simple owner expectations are NOT defects or my fault. My chainsaws are accurately described. Return shipping is just too EXPENSIVE for me when caused by buyer inexperience. You will be receiving exactly what is shown in the photos. The dry weight (without bar and chain) is approximately 10 lbs. I will ship to any domestic US zip code using eBay recommended US Postal Service Ground Advantage based on a shipping weight of approximately 15 lbs. The Postal Service is not offering quality service these days, so if I can ship with an improved carrier at no extra cost to the buyer (UPS or FedEx), I may choose this route. I want you to have the best experience and not wait excessively for the saw. No over-priced flat rate fee ... just the amount necessary for delivery to the buyer's address.
