We make them using 1/8" thick steel - a single corner bracket weighs over 2-1/2 pounds - - strong enough to take what you throw at it (or what you throw it at!), but not so heavy where they are hard to work with. These brackets are sold individually and are FOR USE WITH 4 x 6 POSTS AND BEAMS (3.5” x 5.5”). BRACKETS: 4x6 to 6 Right Outside Corner - This outside corner bracket is used where your upright post is a 4x6 and you are adding horizontal incoming 4x6 posts which are resting on their short/3.5" side and you are bolting into the wide/5.5" side. We call it "Right" because the right side on this one has both the 5.5" for the upright and horizontal. 4x6 to 6 Left Outside Corner - Same as the Right Outside Corner, but with the left being sized for the 5.5" sides of the posts. Two-Piece Post Base for 4x6 - Used to bolt an upright post to concrete or other suitable surface. If your post is going up against a wall, you will want to use our Full Post Base custom-made to 4x6 because it has just two feet, not four, so can be mounted closer to a wall. Half a Post Base for 4x6 - This Bracket is just one half of the Two Piece Post Base, for those who only need one (or another odd number). Our brackets can be installed using any 1/2" wood lag screws or 1/2" thru bolts. If you use lag screws, we recommend at least 1/2" x 2" length.
