Post Medieval THAMES LONDON Rope Fid Basket Weaver Tool Slight Design #10 Click images to enlarge Description I am able to combine postage for items of a similiar size and weight. This is an antique Post Medieval era pocket tool which could be one of a number of things.... apple corer / bone marrow scoop / rope makers Fid / basket weavers tool that has been hand made from a deer or sheep bone. Be assured this is not from an endangered species .. its a left over from a meal. Not sure what bone this is but it has a hinge joint on the handle. It is one of a number of them that has been found in the River Thames in London.. there are numerous books on the subject.. some can be plain and others a little more elaborate. It has a subtle stripey sort of design on the sides. ///////// down each side. It is in good collectable condition. There are no recent chips or cracks in the bone. It has a good patina. This is a wide mouth type. It measures approx. 5 inches long x 1 inch wide at rhe angled cut off front. See the photographs which do enlarge which form part of the visual description.
