Description: This is a lovely Japanese porcelain sake set with decanter and 4 cups in the bright white porcelain the Japanese are known for. The saki decanter is decorated with a flower, maybe a peony, outlined in blue, petals a pale yellow, with blue leaves and veins outlined in shiny gold. It was made by or for the Kiku-Masamune company, which has been making saki since 1659 in Japan! This company makes such an excellent dry saki, it is still in business today, over 350 years later! The 4 saki cups are also decorated with a smaller peony and leaves with gold veins. Each piece is outlined in shiny gold around the top edge, and double gold thin bands at their bases. The decanter is about 5 inches tall and holds 4-5 ounces. The cups are beautifully thin porcelain and are 1 & 1/2 inches tall, 2 & 5/8 inches wide and hold 1 ounce (2 Tablespoonsful). The cups are so fine and thin, one cup only weighs 1.3 ounces. The decanter weighs about 5 ounces. The backstamp on all 5 pieces, show they were made in Japan with an authentic Japanese seal. The set is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. I see little if any wear to the gold trim. If you are looking for an attractive and authentic Japanese saki set, this is a really nice one! Please zoom in on the pictures and see the 360 degree view for a closer look. I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and sometimes on Saturdays if I can make it to the post office before they close at noon. Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking!
