Description: Part Art Deco and part Goth in style, and a hundred percent majestic.Such describes this hard-to-find Poggi Paris jeweled brooch, one of our found treasures from a local Dallas estate.This brooch showcases geometric shapes laden with faux gemstones in cool shades of blue, green and purple. The crystals and cabochons are inset into antiqued, darkened gilt metal.Poggi started business in 1977, and is known for "stylish runway" costume jewelry that are made of gold and silver metal alloys and art glass that simulate precious stones. The company website also describes its jewelry as "trendy", with "strong Italian inspiration blended with Russian and French notes". All of its pieces are hand-made in its Paris atelier. Our brooch is vintage; we found it in the company of 1980s-1990s jewelry. Current Poggi offerings do not include any brooches. Our brooch has a trio of circles separated by elongated rectangles, all in a neat, balanced row. The circle in the center portion is the largest element, measuring 1" x 1", while the two circles on both ends are the smallest, at 5/8" x 5/8".The center circle has a pale blue faceted crystal in the center surrounded by smaller, then larger crystals in olive green and turquoise blue, respectively.Both circles on the ends have purple round crystals in the center, surrounded by olive green crystals.The vertical rectangles in between the circles each has a sugarloaf cabochon center in seafoam green, and trimmed at top and bottom with blue crystals. They measure 1" tall and almost 1/2" wide.All the stones are inset into gilt metal that is so dark it looks slightly japanned or blackened. Fine rope trim delineates the center stones from the smaller stones around it, and also edges all the shapes.The brooch is 3 1/8" long and 1" wide. It looks great whether positioned vertically, horizontally or slanted. Check our pictures for some ideas.The brooch has a locking c-clasp. It is marked Poggi Paris within a box cartouche at the base.It is in excellent condition, with little visible wear. All the crystals are in fantastic shape, and the metal is beautifully Goth in patina.
