Fine mixed technique minimalist impressionist plein air landscape. Appears to be California school, early 20th Century. Does not appear to be signed -in need of new acid free matting or reframing (actual artwork is aprox 7x10) on what appears to be a heavy stock paper. Appears to be a mixture of oil based paints with some gouache / opaque watercolor technique (see photos). Additional research: Has a early California art minimalist tonal style similar to Gottardo Piazzoni. There is also similarity to the style of Ritschel.. he did "Opaque watercolor / Paper" examples and is a known technique by William Ritschel - there is a similar hazy blur style like in Point Lobos Carmel area scenes Wind Carved Cypresses, Point Lobos. Leaning more towards Piazzoni School based on his small work and studies that are with very similar haze blur and mountain line landscape minimalism, a similar small example with mountain line technique called "California Sand Dune" and similar hazy trees along the mountainside in "Path To The Farm". This may be a prepatory work or the same place as "Path To The Farm" or could be a student of Piazzoni ??. Would appeal to collectors of early California impressionism, Calif. plein air, miniature, plein air landscape impressionisSIZE: aprox. 8.5x10.5 frameMEDIUM: mixed technique, oil based paints and appears to be opaque watercoloCONDITION: Could use new acid free matting and reframe - original mat is missing and shows edges under the glass (see photos) -in need of reframing.
