Description: This is an Original June 1955 Issue of PHOTOPLAY: the leading movie magazine sold to the public from the 1910s through the 1940s ("The World's Leading Moving Picture Magazine"; "America's largest-selling movie magazine"). It began publication in 1909 as a thick 6 3/4" x 10" magazine, and within a year, it hit on its successful formula of running heavily illustrated stories about current movies and their stars. We don't know exactly when they switched to the full size, but it was some time around 1917. Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many color and black and white images throughout. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, some in color and some in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Features in this magazine are JANET LEIGH (cover), DORIS DAY, PIER ANGELI, JANE POWELL, BING CROSBY, MARLON BRANDO, JANE RUSSELL and much more. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine.
