Kit is BRAND NEW! and MADE IN USA …………………… 7/16-20 SAE Thread FineThread Insert Length: .656" (inches)This kit can use the same STAINLESS STEEL inserts that Helicoil doesKit requires a drill bit, size 29/64" (inch)Kit Includes: steel installation tool, prewinder, tap, and six (6) insertsUsually sells for $30-$40 plus shipping costs Installation Instructions: Using the drill bit size indicated above, drill out the damaged threads to their complete depth.Blow out or clean out dust and chipsTap new threads with the tap provided in this kit.Blow out or clean out dust and chipsIf a blue prewinder is included, slide the installation tool out of the prewinder, place an insert (helicoil) in the well of the prewinder, (tang down).Place the installation tool into the insert and turn until 1 or 2 threads are wound into the head of the prewinder.Place the prewinder squarely against the tapped hole, - allow it to float.Turn the installation until the insert is 1/4 to ½ turn below the top surface of the hole.When no prewinder is included, turn insert 1/4 to ½ turn below the top surface of the hole.The Tang Must be Removed.If the tang is assessable from the bottom side, it will break off cleanly at the notch by bending it back and forth with a long nosed pliers.To remove the tang from the top, insert a rod or punch having a diameter that just fits into the thread hole.Make certain the end of the rod or punch is square (no chamfer).Hold the rod or punch firmly with one hand.Strike sharply with a hammer.The tang will break off at the notch.Remove the loose tang.
