Description: This offer is for25 seeds of Peniocereus greggii v. transmontanus. This is the western variant of the species, endemic to the Sonoran Desert and ranging from central to southwestern Arizona and throughout Sonora, Mexico. This variety is cold hardy to 20 degrees F. In habitat, plants occur in the partial shade of shrubs or trees, which often help support the cacti allowing them to obtain lengths of 5 to 10 ft or more with numerous dark green orpurplish-brown to greystick like arms branching from a single stem. Mature plants form large subterranean tubers that can be 12 inches in diameter, possibly the largest of all cacti. The fragrant, 2-3 inch wide, showy flowers last only one night, withering shortly after sunrise the following morning. With sufficient heat, light, moisture, and soil, the first cotyledons typically appear about one to two weeks after sowing. In habitat, seedlings sprout in conjunction with the summer monsoon rains. ***Please note shipping is to U.S. addresses only*** --------------------- Thanks for Looking!
