Description: Pair of Cary CAD-2A3-SE Mono Blocs. The amps look very nice but are a little dusty and could use a good polishing. A friend of mine bought these amps new. At time of purchase, the amps used a single 2A3 for the output stage and were each app 3-4 watts output. He needed more power, so he contacted Cary and after consultation had the amps factory modified by Cary to add another 2A3 output tube in parallel with the existing 2A3 output tube. After the modification, each amp is approximately 7-8 watts has two 2A3 tubes in single ended parallel configuration. In order to accomplish the circuit modification without modding the chassis, the 5R4 rectifier tubes were removed and the amps were converted to solid state rectification. The amps sound great after the modification and have the approximate output wattage of 300B tubes in single ended configuration. Included with the amps is a NOS matched quad of PSVane 2A3 tubes as shown in each of the amps. The preamp tubes are premium RCA industrial red base 5691's (6SL7's).
