Description: While working on boats full time, I often wished there was an easier way drilling precision outboard engine mounting holes in the transom of a boat. Other templates exist but they are $300-400 dollars and are overkill for the typical user, including my repair business. Well I designed this tool and it works awesome. The drill template is used by resting the 90 degree bend on top of the transom. The rest of the template will be on the exterior of the boat. The template is then clamped to hold its position with a simple woodworking clamp. The included 1/2” drill bushing is used in the template holes. This will allow for perfectly perpendicular holes thru the transom. This is very important to optimize the setup’s performance. This template is dimensionally made for the BIA outboard mounting requirements. See the last picture to verify this is what you need. Works for the majority of outboards except small portable outboards. The diamonds made into the template allow quick adjustments to the center line of the bolt pattern.
