Description: This painting is painted by my mother A. Barattoni. She has painted for over 60 years. She is passionate about Impressionism. She has taken many classes by local artists to a well known Russian painter. The picture is a study of poppies, one of many of her flower studies. The picture is new, but the frame has a few few spots and missing vanish from. The frames are old from when she owned an art studio, we cannot guarantee that frames are in pristine condition. We are offering this picture online because more room is needed. The proceeds will go to special outreach projects we are involved in. The Artist-A Barattoni : As long I can remember I was fascinated with and would stare for hours at the oil painting in our house. I was born in Italy into a family where my father and uncle were fine art painters when they were young. I always knew that I would also be an artist like my father. I would create pencil drawings and some aquarelle sketches, because oil paints were too costly for my family. It took many years, and a change of continents to seriously start oil painting. It is the medium that I use now. Once I arrived and settled in Southern California I started taking art classes from different teachers and at the local college, I found that I learned the most from private teachers. I carefully chose teachers that helped me develop my own style. One of the best teachers that I had the privilege to take classes from was Russian born Sergey Bongard, who inspired me the most. Another event in my life that influenced me in my artistic endeavors was owning and operating an art gallery and framing business in North Hollywood. While working there I was constantly exposed to different art and different customers. I learned to appreciate all kinds of art, from old Representation to Abstraction. Yet I continued to love French Impressionism and California Plein Air paintings. It is not surprising that my style, while not new, is a combination of European Impressionism and California Plein Air techniques. I am both a Plein Air painter and a studio painter. Most of my studio works are developed from outdoor sketches and photographs. A long time ago I came to the realization that art as a subject seems infinite. I realized that my personal development as an artist is a never-ending quest. There is so much to learn and areas to grow. It is my wish that I will learn and grow until the last day of my life. Many of my paintings have received Awards, and are in private collections in North America, Europe, and Asia.
