This Navy pilot bronze was commissioned in limited production by the seller (writer/author of Osprey Elite 86 "Japanese Naval Aviation Uniforms and Equipment 1937-1945) which was sculptured by friend and retired San Bernardino Sheriff Don Lynch. The project entitled "Samurai Spirit" reflects the full exact details of the Japanese WWII Navy Pilot standing on a flight deck wearing a Type 97 parachute harness, float vest, gauntlet gloves, flight helmet with goggles; again every detail taken by the artist by using the original Japanese Navy pilot uniforms and equipment. The Navy pilot mannequin (not included in this auction) is shown in this ad only to visually assist with the comparable size (2' feet tall) of the bronze next to the life size pilot mannequin. The Samurai Spirit bronze is mounted on a swivel walnut platform which enables the user to turn the pilot bronze with ease. The bronze weighs approximately 60 pounds and is shipped in a custom wooden crate via UPS (United Parcel Service) ground.
