It was held at the Norman Moore Gallery in San Francisco in July of 1967, during the “Summer of Love” as it was then known. Norman Moore was a friend and client of my father’s, who sold paintings to him back in the 1960s. My father and sister went to San Francisco to attend the Joint Show and drop off the “Love-in in San Francisco” poster he had just published, the only poster commemorating the “Summer of Love.” During the show Norman Moore traded my father 1,000 of the show posters, two hundred by each artist, which came back in our then new ’67 Chevrolet van in large 12” diameter tubes, some of which we still have. We sold a few of the Joint Show posters back in the sixties, but they remained in our gallery basement, then in storage for decades, until we began gradually selling them online about fifteen years ago, on the Esoteric site we once operated as well as on e-Bay. Now we have begun to reach the end of the road, with none of the Rick Griffin posters remaining, a few Very Good/Near Mint Wes Wilson posters (as well as some show and photography samples in varying conditions) and some Near Mint posters by Alton Kelley, Stanley Mouse and Victor Moscoso, as well as some photography and show sample posters by those artists. We have not had any of these up on e-Bay for several years, so now we are putting them to sell the rest of what we have, leaving a few for the family poster collection. We are aging too and so its time to move these on to collectors, young and old, who appreciate these posters, so indicative of a particular place in time. All of our Joint Show posters were obtained in July of 1967 directly from the Moore Gallery and have been in our possession ever since, along with what was once thousands of our own Esoteric Posters, including the original Roland Crump designed Beatnik and dope posters, dating back to the late 1950s, when our father got his start in serigraphs (Wayne Thiebaud, Mel Ramos and many others) and posters. Thus far we have not re-printed any of our designs, nor have we sold other replicas or re-strikes, all our posters are original, all dating back to 1967.
