The map also labels the Magellan Strait, Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Asuncion, Atacama, the Andes, and Pelotas. Other details include volcanoes, battlefields, steamship lines, lighthouses, and railroads. The image area measures 38 x 26.5 cm [15" x 10½"]. The map was engraved by the Matthews-Northrup Company. It was published by the Century Company of New York and is dated 1897 in the legend.
