The map shows counties, cities, towns, railroads and natural features, with many place names, including Adventure Bay, Cape Mistaken, Needle Rock, Kangaroo Island, Banks Strait, the Furneaux Group, Hobart, Launceston, Port Davey, Torquay, and Brady's Sugar Loaf. The water areas are tinted a delicate blue, and political boundaries are boldly outlined in color. There is an inset map of Australia and New Zealand. The image area measures 27 x 20.4 cm [10½" x 7"], and the distance scale is calibrated in English miles. The map was issued in the 9th edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, in 1888. It is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. The cartography is by William & Alexander Keith Johnston of Ediburgh.
