The map was published in London by George Cox for the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, and it is dated in the lower margin. It was engraved by J. & C. Walker, and the cartography is credited to Henry S. Tanner and John Calvin Smith. The image area measures 31 x 39.5 cm [12¼" x 15½"], and details include wagon roads, towns, court houses, rivers, creeks, and lead mines. Among the labeled places and features are Memphis, Nashville, New Madrid, Springfield, Bolivar, Lexington, Chickasaw Bluff, Kings River, Pulaski, Huntsville, Beaver Dam Lake, Golconda, Kaskaskia, and Osceola.
