Description: >Offered here is an old and original 1972 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS for TRACK AND FIELD schedule and hospitality brochure!! Please see all three photos, as they are an important part of my description. This rare vintage brochure measures approximately 8 1/2" x 3 3/4" in its closed form, and was originally printed on slightly textured blue paper stock. The brochure features an actual photograph featuring a steeplechase race at historic Hayward Field here in Eugene, Oregon. The Oregon Track Club runner pictured at center is local Olympian Mike Manley. These Olympic Trials took place June 29 through July 9, 1972 here in Eugene. When opened, the brochure reveals the complete Olympic Trials schedule, along with ticket prices (three dollars and six dollars per day). The brochure's back page mentions cultural, recreation and housing options while attending these Trials. Of course, legendary University of Oregon Ducks distance runner Steve Prefontaine competed in these Trials before the hometown fans; "Pre" thrilled the crowd on the Trial's final day on July 9 as he won the 5,000 meters which qualified him to represent the USA at the 1972 Munich Olympics. A great keepsake for track & field fans, and a very rare find as well! <>Condition: the brochure shows two horizontal fold lines, plus a red ink notation inside near the July 8 section (see 2nd photo). There are no rips/tears present!
