Description: This Bulgarian starter makes mildly tangy, creamy yogurt. Bulgatian yogurt culture is thermophilic and needs to be cultured at 110F in a yogurt maker or other appliance that maintain a consistent temperature (105-112F), such as crock pot. Since its a true heirloom culture, you can reuse it over and over again. You will receive 1 packet of dehydrated Bulgarian starter. Start by heating 2 cups of milk to 160F and then cooling it to 110F. Pour the milk into a glass jar or container and add dehydrated starter, stir well. Cover the jar and culture it at 110F for 10 - 12 hrs in a yogurt maker or similar appliance. Refrigerate the yogurt for 4 - 6 hrs to stop fermentation. Always save some for the next batch before using the rest. To make the next batch, heat milk to 160F, then cool to 110F (For every 2 cups milk use 1 tbsp of yogurt). Then mix in the yogurt, stir well and culture in the yogurt maker or similar appliance for 6 - 12 hrs. Refrigerate for 4 - 6 hrs to stop fermentation. Save some for the next batch and enjoy the rest. Just add fruits, add it to smoothies or you can make your own chip dip, ranch, french onion dip etc. *Raw Milk* Please note if you are using raw milk, you need to pasteurize, as it can overpower the bacteria in the yogurt culture.
