B138 germination medium: this is a germination medium that works particularly well with terrestrials, such as paphiopedilums, phragmipediums, etc. Not recommended for temperate terrestrials such as cypripedium (see our other media including M551, T839, and T849 for that genus). This medium contains 20 grams of sugar and all the other goodies (inositol, peptone, B vitamins- the whole kitchen sink is in there). Also contains casein hydrolysate, for nitrogen. Inexpensive and reliable. Contains gelling agent (agar). Add water to 1 liter final volume, mix thoroughly, pour, and autoclave. Please note: Orchid seed germination is a technical matter.
