To extend the device's useful life, we have installed and configured OpenWrt, an open-source operating system for networking equipment. The buyer will receive detailed configuration notes. The device runs on a Freescale P1010 processor with 128 MB of RAM and a 128 MB NAND storage device. Wireless networking (N standard) is handled by a Qualcomm Atheros 93xx Wi-Fi card. Wired networking consists of a single WAN port and a four-port switch handling LAN traffic. Because of this design, LAN ports are controllable only as a group and not individually. The device is implemented in a compact desktop form factor (the footprint is approximately 6.50 x 5.25 in / 165 x 135 mm). The case is all-metal and exceptionally rigid.
