About The Silversmith: Leo Coriz was one of the most widely respected elders and renown silversmith of the Santo Domingo Pueblo. This Master silversmith / artist without the use of electricity or wheels produced highly sought after jewelry items. Many of his earlier pieces were created from 900 fine silver coins and sterling flatware that he found and melted down. Clearly his work exhibits, hand cuts with early old world hand crafted bench techniques. The most savvy of collectors search down his pieces for investment. Active since the 1930's, Coriz is a multi award winning Pueblo silversmith who studied at the Santa Fe Indian School with Ambrose Roanhorse in 1931 and 1932.DETAILS, SIZE, WEIGHT: The belt consists of 12 pieces total, re: 11 conchos measuring 2 5/8" east to west x 2" north to south and one front buckle also 2 5/8" x 2". The back slide area measures 3/4". Each concho features exceptional stamp work and silver applique work, slightly convex with early Royston turquoise stones approx. 15-16mm x 8-9mm set into silver bezels. all are secure. The front butterfly shaped buckle features two turquoise stones approx. 12mm x 6mm. The total weight of the entire belt is 392 grams or 13.85 ounces. The LEO CORIZ hallmarked is located in two locations on the buckle, pointed out in the photos. I have not altered this concho belt, it is being offered as I received it with an aged and tarnished patina as most collectors want these rare pieces untouched. The backside of the buckle was lightly hand buffed with a jewelers cloth to allow the signature to be viewed. The leather belt is vintage with some age related wear but still subtle and wearable, leather belt meaures 45" long with four holes from the previous owner, of course one can add holes for personal sizing. I have looked high and low to try and locate another Leo Coriz silver concho belt, they are rare and I had no luck. I did locate one of Leo Coriz's rings being offered for $1,100.00 and a cross for $1,800.00. GREAT INVESTMENT!!SHIPPING: Please ask any questions as all sales are final.
