Description: Replica coin seal of California/Mexico settlers history. Paper plaque reads:"This historic seal reflects the fact that California was once a part of Mexico. It's design is based on an ancient Aztec Legend, According to which the gods inform the Indians that they should settle where they found a rock rising out of the water. Furthermore according to the legend an eagle with a snake and it's beak would be perched on a cactus growing out of the rock. The settlement founded by the Indians at Lake Tenochtitlan is present-day Mexico City. Settlers in California broke away from Mexico in 1846 forming a short-lived independent republic. California soon became part of the United States but even today the snake and eagle symbol is included in the Seal of Los Angeles." I'm guessing this had to do with the era of US president Polk when most of the States were formed from northern Mexico by way of both force and negotiations. This is a one of a kind seal that you may not find elsewhere. I've listed the price very low. The frame contains thin glass that may break in transit. No returns.
