Description: Description - A vintage romance/suspense fiction novel from The Literary Guild Book Club - NOTHING SO STRANGE, by James Hilton, 1947, Little Brown and Company, Boston, 308 pages, 5-1/2 x 8 inches, no dust jacket. Hardcover with orange-tan clothbound boards and green stamped titling - author's name enclosed in a decorative double border, top edge green, side edge deckled. Includes the November 1947 issue of Wings by the Literary Guild Review - a report on the novel written by John Beecroft (16 pages). Condition - The exterior boards are barely soiled, a little bleaching, the spine has light spots, some wear top of spine, corners nearly square - not bumped but not perfect, flat, tight, square, good intact hinges and spine, top edge a bit faded and dusty, others okay. Inside, there is an owner library label and a penciled checkmark on the front free end-sheet, but otherwise the book is clean from cover to cover - no rips, no folds or creases, no stains, no ink or pencil, no foxing, slightly toned. The copy of Wings is in excellent condition. Storyline - Quoted from Goodreads.com: "This is the story of two modern people—a young American who, both as a scientist and as a man, faced some of the biggest problems of our times; and the girl who gave him all her heart and brain. When Jane met Dr. Mark Bradley in London she was only eighteen. She and her mother were both attracted by "Brad," and the situation thus engendered proved fateful, since it led to Brad's association with a great Viennese physicist and to his involvement in a tragic drama. But there was another drama, larger and less personal, that drew him into its widening orbit, a drama that became a secret and later an obsession. Probing yet protective, Jane's love makes the strong thread in a pattern of deeply moving and significant events—strange events, too—and yet, to quote Daniel Webster, there is often "nothing so strange" as the truth." See photos for additional confirmation of the condition. Please email any questions not answered by the photos and description before bidding. Thanks.
