The pads have no hockey related issues , smell , these seem brand new , besides the scuffs etc. They are barely broken in , as I still have them strapped to have them bend. But these are still not broken in from what I remember , haven’t used since 2002?, at time they were a little large for me , another reason I wasn’t using them , but I needed them once I seen them. And the rest is history
