Description: Here is a nice vintage mid 1950's made in USA Rawlings Stan Musial top-of-the-line Playmaker Supreme model PM baseball three finger glove for a Right-Hand thrower and thus fits on the left hand. Musial was a left-handed thrower. The mitt was made in the USA and is adult sized measuring 11" long through the pocket. The mitt was as the Stan Musial Playmaker Supreme form 953-1957 and sold for $24.00 - $27.50 in that time period, making it the most expensive Rawlings glove during that time period. Stamped on the front of the mitt is "Deep Well" Pocket, Stan Musial Personal Model, Hinged Pad, The Playmaker Supreme, Rawlings and PM. On the back is stamped Anchored Web, Pat. No. 2,629,094, Licensed Under U.S. Patent No. 2,251,204, Snugger Adjustment, Patent Applied For. On the Middle Finger is: Place Two Middle Fingers In This Section and Pat. No. 2311949 and Pat. No. 2354601. There is a nice light red original Rawlings patch sewn on the back and a nice shiny Rawlings brass button as well. The mitt feels good on the hand. The only writing I see on the mitt is the name Landis which engraved lightly on the backside of the pinky finger. The inside and outside stamping are all readable, but the original silver stamping is all but gone. Mitt has a nice light red Rawlings cloth patch on the back showing light wear. The interior and exterior leather is still soft on this topline mitt. Interior leather is soft and smooth for the most part. There is some light cracking showing on the bottom left palm where the Snugger Adjustment has pulled at the leather. Leather is still soft in that location. The lacing appears original and intact with light wear here and there (mostly on the bottom heel). The leather piping is soft leather showing wear, mainly around the bottom of the backstrap and that area. The thumb & pinky loops are functional and useable. Stan Musial of course is a longtime MLB Hall of Famer and played his entire 22-year career for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1941-1946 and 1948-1963 (with the year break being for military service during World War II). He was a left-handed outfielder and later on a first baseman. He hit left-handed as well. He was a 3-time NL MVP, a 24-time NL All-Star (some years back then had two all-star games a year), won the NL batting title 7 times (with a career average of .331), had 3,630 hits and 475 home runs. He played in 4 World Series with the Cards, winning it all 3 times, in 1942, 1944 and 1946.
