Description: New & Unsmoked Ser Jacopo Domina 2004 L1 Billiard Special Runic Silver Bands #57 The Domina (Pipe of the Year) series was started by Giancarlo Guidi in 1996. Since 1998 there have been 333 Domina pipes made each year and each year has a unique shape. Over the past few decades there have been a number of unique or "odd" shapes, but this isn't one of those. Responding to several years of prodding by his USA agents to made a classic Domina, Giancarlo finally capitulated and the result is this stunning pipe. I say stunning because there is something special about a special billiard. This piece is number 57 of the 333 made in 2004. It's in the L1 smooth finish which shows off its superior straight grain. The shape is…well…fantastic. I can't top that. There are two special rings which appear to have runes on them. One is flush mounted on the shank and the other - a circular piece - is inlaid into the top wall of the bowl. The nomenclature is found on the two sides and underside of the shank. It's fitted with an appropriate hand made tapered stem. An interesting point is that the pipe will stand in place, something which a fully classic Billiard with a circular shank would not do. I think Giancarlo was having a bit of fun when he designed this into his pipe for 2004. This pipe will come in a special presentation box. In Ser Jacopo grading of smooth pipes, there's Rosso Inglese, L1, L2 and then into the Gem Series. The pipe pictured is the pipe you will receive.Purchase is for the pipe only, no box and no sleeve.The stem of this pipe is handmade from Lucite / acrylic / plexiglas and will not tarnish.The pipe will be packed with the stem separated from the bowl for safety and shipped insured.This pipe DOES NOT use a filter.
