New-Old-Stock Campagnolo Veloce (175 mm) Crankset with 53x39 Chainrings

Description: New-Old-Stock Campagnolo Veloce (175 mm) Crankset with 53x39 Chainrings...Some Shopwear Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies. Product Description: This offering is for a new-old-stock Campagnolo (Campy) Veloce double crankset with 175 mm crankarms and 53x39 chainrings. The crankarms are made from a forged aluminum alloy, so they should be fairly strong and their finish is typical Campy...a nice lightly polished satin silver. These cranksets are labeled as 9-speed models, but please see notes below concerning their adaptability to other drivetrains. Additionally, I really cannot tell a difference between Campy's Veloce crankarms and their next model up...the Centaur crankarms. I realize Centaur cranksets are typically matched with better Ultra-Drive chainrings (relative to Veloce cranksets), but the crankarms themselves appear identical. Both are nice Campy offerings, but Veloce models are typically marketed at a lower price point, which probably makes them one of the better values among crankarms/cranksets. Other specs worth noting include the English threaded bolt-holes for 9/16" pedal spindles and the square-tapered holes for a bottom bracket with an ISO tapered spindle and a total (spindle) length of 111 mm. As noted above, the chainrings are not Ultra-Drive quality, but they still borrow heavily from Campy's higher-end models. Their design/geometry is similar, as are the multiple pins/grooves that facilitate the upshift of the chain to this larger chainring, as well as set points of specifically designed chainring teeth to facilitate the downshift to the smaller chainring. We should also mention these are stamped rings (as opposed to "cut", like Campy's higher-end rings), so their final production/machining will not be as precise. This will initially result in more drivetrain noise (from chainring teeth/chain interaction), but this noise should dissipate over time, as these chainrings break-in from use. With respect to condition, these are new cranksets with some shopwear. They were bulk packed in padded mailers, so they have been protected, but maybe not quite as well as I would like. Additionally, each offering will include factory matched crankbolts and washers, as well as Campagnolo installation/reference materials, which are usually only available with retail boxed sets. Listing Update...I have begun updating the pictures to reflect the next crankset that will sell/ship. To this end, I can confirm this next offering shows some shopwear (with scratches/scuffs visible upon close inspection). Please also note that while we have multiple quantities listed for sale, we will repeatedly update the pictures to reflect the next offering that will sell/ship. Other drivetrain possibilities... The other interesting specification regarding these cranksets that is probably not as widely known concerns the thickness of the chainring mounting arms. More specifically, because we noted 9/10-speed Veloce quality chainrings measure about the same thickness at the bolt holes, we believed Campy deliberately varied the thickness of their Veloce crankarms...at the chainring mounting points...to achieve the desired spacing for a 9-speed drivetrain vs. a 10-speed drivetrain. Sure enough, caliper measurements confirmed there is nearly a 0.5 mm difference between Veloce 9-speed and 10-speed crankarms (at these chainring mounting points). Now this is not necessarily that big of a deal, as spacers are available to push chainrings farther apart to achieve appropriate spacing for nearly any drivetrain. Although, we thought the measured difference was still worth noting for those individuals that were not intending to use (or wanted to minimize the use of) spacers. Still, it's important to note that even Veloce 10-speed crankarms may be fitted to a 7/8-speed drivetrain with appropriate spacers inserted/installed to accommodate the wider chain that is generally used with these older drivetrains. Please also note when installing spacers, the most common practice on a double crankarm is to insert them between the large chainring and the crankarm. Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
