Description: WOW!! Loads and loads of RED!!! Wonderful find from our latest trip thru the midwest! This old TOP was found at an estate in Indiana. It's a charming old "CAROLINA LILY" Quilt Top. The edges are hand hemmed so it could also be used as a spread or coverlet as is! Never washed or used. Fabrics are crisp. Dates from the early early 1900s. Measures 92 x 84. There are 9 blocks measuring about 23.5x22 each Never washed or treated. Not taken off another project. Hand pieced and machine sewn. The appliqued stems and handles are machine sewn. Nicely and neatly done! Some of the tacking stitches are still there. All cottons. It has been in storage a long time. A little yellowed and dingy from age and storage. There is a water mark/spot on the border (see last photo). Some other small scattered brown age spots. No color bleeding. The brown fabric has slight areas of color fading~very very minimal and to be expected. I see no pinholes or fraying. No odors. No dry rot. I have not treated or cleaned this top.
