Description: Please look at the photos and read condition. Please contact us with any questions, and we are happy to provide additional photos. This is an ex-library copy of the classic collection of lectures (if dated) Naval Strategy, by Alfred Mahan, Little Brown, & Co., Boston, 1911. This is a 1st /1st. This is a historical survey covering strategy through the centuries. The name is a bit of a misnomer as it is broader than only naval strategy and strays into grand strategy. These were lectures Mahan delivered from 1887-1911 at the Naval War College in Rhode Island. Mahan had a worldwide reputation in this pre-World War I period, and influenced generations of senior naval officers and strategists through World War II. His works still appears on reading lists, although his inluence has waned. John Keegan and others have called him the most important strategist of the 19th century. This copy is not in great shape, but in my opinion can be repaired (which is why I offer it). I have tried to fully describe flaws, and give you a good overview of the principal ones in the photos. The maps are all there. We carefully pack our books, and ship in boxes.
