Description: Here is an original handwritten 3 by 5 inch card by Wilfred Billey, USMS, Navajo Code Talker 1943-1945. Besides his signature it contains his years of service and his wartime address. Mr. Billey produced these cards to help support himself in later years. This was purchased while Wilfred was still alive (he died in 2013 at the age of 90) and used in a display of Navajo Code Talker memorabilia. See photos for details. Has always been kept in a protective plastic case. Not a reproduction. He fought in the Battle of Tarawa, The Battle of Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He also served in the Marine occupation of Nagasaki after Japan surrendered. In his later years he worked for various schools and spoke frequently about the role of the Navajo Code Talkers in the fight for freedom in WWII. See photos for details.
