Description: This has been handed down in our family for generations. Obtained by my Civil War great-great grandfather? From the tribe of the Native American who married our relative? Regrettably, the details have been lost. If you recognize the tribe (or anything else about this) let me know-- that would be great. I'm no expert but it seems this is a Native American Indian medicine belt/pouch that was designed to be carried by its "belt loop" on the back. It appears to be of a very soft thin leather and all construction/decoration sewn by hand, I think with sinews, not by common cotton thread. It's a beautiful piece.
