This particular dress certainly exemplifies his beautifully beaded and embroidered statement pieces. The shell is an ivory wool crepe sheath dress with little cap sleeves and a back zipper. The dress is embellished in a bold, black floral design using glass bugle beads, black plastic leaves, copper and brass metal embroidery, smoky glass beads, crewel embroidery (the black dots), and silk applique – and I’ve probably missed something. The dress doesn’t have a fabric tag – it was probably not made for commercial sale – but the shell looks and feels like wool crepe, and the pale peach lining appears to be silk. The best depiction of the ivory color of the dress is in the final photograph of the label. There is no size label, but sizing charts indicate the dress is a modern size 10.
