Description: This 7220PE has been customized with a Speaker Relay Protection system that eliminates the THUMPing during Power ON and OFF with a turn-on delay and quick disconnect at turn-off. The Tape Out jacks have been rewired to be the same variable Preamp Outputs as on the 7225PE for use with a powered subwoofer, additional power amp, etc. This 7220PE can thus be used in a larger system as a Phono Preamp and/or Preamp/Tuner. I have been testing this unit with Boston HD-5 bookshelf speakers and a Velodyne subwoofer. I have configured this unit as a 7020e by simply removing the two PE Supply fuses. In the 7020e configuration, the Power Amp voltage Rails match the original 3020 and keep the ouput transistors within their safe area of operation while still delivering the same 20 WPC RMS. I will reinstall the fuses at the buyer's request. The electrolytic caps in the Power Supply, Amplifier and Tuner Audio sections have all been upgraded. The audio caps are nichicon FW, Fine Gold and MUSE Bipolar, along with ELNA Bipolar and Vishay Film in the Tone Control filters. The new power supply caps are nichicon, ELNA and Rubycon. I have installed a new power switch and upgraded the muting system to all-electronic (like the 3225PE) to mute properly with an external Power On/Off control from a smart switch, "Clapper" etc. I've also upgraded the Offset and Bias trimpots to multi-turn equivalents for more accurate adjustments and stable operation. Cosmetically, this 7220PE is one of the nicest I've seen with its darker face and bright white lettering. It is in excellent condition in and out except for small imperfections on the top cover. It is also rather elegant in that it has two independent power transformers and power supplies, one for the analog amplifiers and the other for the digital tuners. It is literally an integrated amp with a tuner on top.
