Good. The port of this bit measures approx. 1 1/4" high from the top of the roller to the bottom of the bars. The port has a tiered design with a wide base. According to Myler, "If the horse is relaxed, the tongue can pass comfortably under the wide opening. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece collapses onto the bars and lips and rotates onto the tongue. The pronounced corners of the port apply two points of pressure on the tongue for increased control. The result is a mouthpiece that offers maximum tongue relief for the horse but very good control for the rider." The rings have hooks (slots) for fixed attachment of the headstall and reins. This provides leverage action, allowing the rider to use less pressure than a traditional bit and are "very encouraging for horse to relax at poll". "Mylers", "Toklat" and the patent number are marked on the inside of the rings. This bit is used but in good condition. It has marks from normal use, but nothing that should affect its performance in any way. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit an 8. A very nice quality bit!
