Description: First book-form edition (print number not stated) hardcover copy of My Confession by Samuel E. Chamberlain (Harper & Brothers, 1956). An abridged version was first published by Time Magazine prior to this book’s release, the first such publication roughly a century after being written. The main influence and non-fiction source material for Cormac McCarthy’s masterpiece, Blood Meridian. A very rare book documenting the life and military history of Chamberlain during his time in the American military before, during and after the Mexican War. A well-preserved copy for its age. Price clipped jacket now protected in new archival sleeve but with some rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges - including chipping, creases and small tears. Liquid damage to jacket spine, mostly visible only on interior. Faint liquid damage to bottom of boards near spine. Binding is firm and spine is straight. Pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition. Shipped Media Mail.
