Why does it work??? First, most dung loving mushrooms love long grain brown rice more than anything for spawning. Second the popcorn is not far behind, plus it breaks up easier than any other grain. Third, the gypsum keeps the Ph levels down a bit, and do some good in preventing sticking. Fourth, the crushed oyster shell provides an excellent source of calcium which the mycelium needs in a big way. It also prevents sticking and some extra porosity. Last is the brown rice flour. We make this and this is what is responsible for the accelerated growth. It's pretty much brown rice ground up to the perfect composition.
