Description: Munro Leaf (1905-1976) was an American writer of children's literature. THE WATCHBIRDS cartoon series was one of his notable creations, a commentary on human behavior and what traits children should avoid, such as being a SHOW-OFF, a THUMB-SUCKER, a SQUIRMER, or a GRABBER. Charming and still relevant. Fair condition. All 28 pages are present but several have lost their attachment to the binding. Front and back hinges are split. Pages have some soiling and damp staining; small tears and one large one on page 9 (see photo). Pencil marks where a former reader has answered questions asked in the text. Red cloth covers are stained and worn.
