Description: MONTGOMERY CLIFT - 1948 VINTAGE SIGNED POSTCARD PHOTOGRAPH - SCARCE Impossibly handsome vintage glossy 3.5" x 5.5" German postcard photo of screen legend Montgomery Clift. This was a publicity portrait used by Paramount Pictures in 1948...early in his film career. He signs "Monty Clift" in a heavier vintage black india ink. The verso of the photograph has pencil notations that do not effect the front. VF condition. Montgomery Clift (1920-1966) was a celebrated American actor best known for his Oscar nominated performances in A PLACE IN THE SUN, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY and JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBERG. Clift was a great friend of Elizabeth Taylor and admired by both Marlon Brando and James Dean. A 1956 car accident set him on a downward spiral of substance abuse that unfortunately earned him a reputation for unreliability. His addiction contributed to his early death at the age of 45. Authentically signed material from him is understandably somewhat scarce and desirable.
