Description: For Sale is an Authentic Mitchell & Ness JACKIE ROBINSON #42 Brooklyn Dodgers 1949 Home Jersey, Size 48 (XL), NEW WITH TAGS / NEVER WORN. This is an authentic 100% Wool Flannel replica jersey of the one worn by Robinson at all Dodgers Home games at Ebbets Field in 1949, the year that Jackie won the National League MVP award. This model jersey is VERY RARE. The jersey is cream-colored with front buttons and no trim with "Dodgers" in sewn-on royal blue felt script letters across the chest and Jackie’s #42 in matching royal blue felt sewn on the back. (Note: Unlike the 1955 Dodgers Home jersey, the 1949 Home jersey had no red number below the "Dodgers" script. For this reason, most collectors consider the 1955 Home jersey more attractive and it is a more popular and much easier to find model. Also, most of these 1949 Home jerseys were sold as part of a Mitchell & Ness boxed limited edition commemorating Jackie’s National League 1949 MVP award. I have not seen many others sold separately.) At the front bottom left of the jersey is the name "Jackie Robinson" and the year "1949" embroidered in blue and at the front bottom right is a large sewn tag identifying the jersey as part of the Cooperstown Collection of licensed MLB apparel items. The original product sales tags (one for Mitchell & Ness, another for the Cooperstown Collection with numbered MLB holographic) are attached at the neck. Note that this jersey is Made in the USA of 100% Wool Flannel (Dry Clean only), the exact same as those worn by the players of this era. Later versions of this jersey were made in China and/or of a cheaper Acrylic/Wool blended fabric. This is a gorgeous jersey in Brand New / Never Worn condition, folded in its original plastic bag removed only for the photos shown here. Mitchell & Ness has not made these for a number of years now and they are getting hard to find, especially in this condition. It comes from a smoke-free home.
