Santa María del Río, a town known as "the cradle of the rebozo". The rebozos that are made in Santa María del Río are based on synthetic silk, cotton and artself, a famous material that allows the garment to pass through a ring. Formerly, the rebozo was used by distinguished women who ordered it to be woven to their liking and even had different types and colors according to the occasion. It was an accessory as indispensable as the bag in our days. In Santa María del Río, artisans have been making their designs for more than a century. There are chins, which at first were only brown, and the pigeon, which combined black and white tones. Then came the catiteo, which was a kind of silk. In addition, all the dyes were made naturally, fermenting indigo or lichen, which are the materials from which the color was obtained.
