Description: Aldama Duck Motif folk art plate. Hand painted in rust-red & teal sometime in 1930’s or 1940's. Cream-colored field. Depicts swimming duck on marshy grass with ducks in flight overhead. Unusual cinnamon colors and motif. Impressed hallmark reads “Mexico Aldama”. Aldama is a municipality of Chihuahua. This is from the collection of a serious, long-time, high-end Santa Fe, New Mexico collector of Mexican antique pottery. I will be listing multiple pieces from this collection in the next few days. Most notable issues: 1) rim nick in the 8 o'clock position as shown in photo #15, 2) glaze / paint loss on plate top in several spots on verge (where rim meets center medallion), and 3) Fine scratches on cinnamon colored paint on central motif.
