However, some pieces simply succumb to the ravages of age and heavy use – military straps being chief among these.Years ago we began creating straps for many of our military timepieces because, quite frankly, we were unhappy with the alternatives. An SVW military timepiece has either an original strap, a custom-fitted leather strap or a twill piece, sewn to proper standards using fabric from factories that supplied original government contracts. Some clients prefer either wearing or displaying original straps; some prefer wearing a new version of the old.Here is an example of one of our WWII style straps, recreated in Khaki from correct twill with proper stitch count. It is an uncommon strap; created for a fine historic piece, worn by a most discerning client – simply the finest of its kind. Measuring approx.9 5/8 inches or 24.5 cm from tip of buckle to end of strap, designed to accommodate a slightly larger modern wrist. Military wristwatches are exceedingly venerable works of historic horological art worn by clients with excellent taste and decorum. Such wrist art should be fitted with a worthy strap.
