MEAT LOAF RIAA PLATINUM RECORD AWARD BAT OUT OF HELL Presnted to STEVE POPOVICH

Description: This is a RIAA Platinum Record award in the FLOATER format for MEAT LOAF "BAT OUT OF HELL". The award is presented to STEVE POPOVICH who was the owner of the Cleveland International Record label. For those not familiar with the history of the album here is an abbreviated version. The album was shopped around to all the major record labels and was shot down by all for being too bombastic. LITTLE STEVEN..otherwise known as MIAMI STEVE VAN ZANDT in the E STREET BAND and SILVIO DANTE on the SOPRANOS, heard the recording and brought it to the attention of Steve Popovich who had worked with Van Zandt on the early SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY + ASBURY JUKES albums. Well Steve Popovich took a HUGE gamble and put the recording out on his small record label (Distributed by EPIC RECORDS). It didnt sell very well early on after release but eventually it caught fire on the radio stations and the rest as they say is history. The album hasnt been certified by the RIAA for the past 23 years and in 2001 it was certified as selling 14 MILLION COPIES in the USA alone. Not too shabby for something that nobody wanted to put out. I have MEAT LOAF's personal RIAA Platinum award for this title so I can let go of this one I guess to some VERY Lucky collector to be. This is definitely a piece of Rock N Roll History presented to the man who made it all happen. For its age the award is in excellent condition with hardly any fading at all. Usually you find all the BAT OUT OF HELL awards with YELLOW labels instead of ORANGE because they were sitting in the Sun too long on Record Exec walls.. Ive been in this Hobby since the late 1980's and Ive collected over 10,000 of these awards in that time frame.
