Description: Up for sale from my mother's estate is this stunning pottery piece by famed Alaskan artist Matthew Adams. Adams developed the Alaska line in the late 1950s while working for Sasha Brastoff and then later had his own studio. Pieces created in 1959 commemorate Alaskan statehood. Alaska line features traditional Alaskan scenes including Eskimos and native animals. I would describe this as a coffee/tea pot. It seems to be a rare shape and subject from the artist. The colors of blue, creams, golds and grays are brilliant and crisp. The finish is perfectly smooth and glossy. The subject is a very large Ram with huge horns well defined. Signature Matthew Adams on the plain back side. There is a tiny flea bite on the edge of the lid. Marked in the typical manner on the bottom 182B. My mother never used this for serving coffee etc. Measures 8.25" tall and about 4+" side to side.
